Elephant Parade London 2010 - Early Summer 2010
Group exhibition with catalogue. City-wide exhibition of 260 fibreglass, decorated, lifesize adolescent asian elephants.
Organised by the Elephant Family.

Gemma painted her elephant with acrylics, creating a dual sided image taking inspiration from the elephant's natural environment, postcards and her own work. It was also one of the 80 designs chosen from all the elephants to be made into limited edition miniatures, which can still be purchased here as well as the catalogue and t-shirt.

Her elephant was kindly sponsored by European Land and was located for much of the summer in Paddington Basin, near the canal and Harbert Road. At the end of June it was gathered with all the other elephants in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

Elephant Family is a hugely ambitious charity working to save the Asian elephant from extinction in the wild. In 2010 we brought Elephant Parade to London, making it London's largest outdoor art event on record and Best Cultural Attraction. Elephant Family partnered with Elephant Parade, an art concept founded by father and son Mike and Marc Spits to benefit the endangered Asian elephant.
